An egg washing machine is industrial egg cleaning equipment to automatically clean eggs on a continuous stainless-steel line. It uses soaking, brush scrubbing, rinsing, and air drying to remove dirt, manure, and stains from the eggshell surface.

Depending on the machine configuration, it can also perform candling inspection, UV sterilization, and oil coating to support efficient egg processing. The machine is designed to clean eggs gently, minimizing shell breakage and helping protect the egg’s inner membrane.

It processes fresh eggs as well as salted eggs, mud-pickled eggs, sesame-paste eggs and preserved (century) eggs, and handles both chicken and duck eggs. Capacities range from about 5,000 eggs per hour on our single-row model up to 10,000–14,000 eggs per hour on the double-row line, which makes the machine a practical fit for small, medium and large egg-processing operations.

An egg washing machine (also called an egg washer or egg cleaning machine) is a piece of food-processing equipment designed to clean the outer shell of eggs in a continuous, automated flow. Instead of hand-washing eggs in a tub, the machine floods, brushes and dries each egg as it travels along a conveyor, so that every egg leaves the line clean, glossy and uniform.

Because eggshells are porous and fragile, the machine is built around two principles: gentle handling and effective cleaning . Soft egg-loading rollers and a variable-frequency drive keep the eggs moving without impact, while special nylon-bristle brush rollers scrub away surface soil from every angle. The result is eggs with no visible dirt, no surface bacteria buildup and a consistent, sellable appearance.

Why Your Egg Business Needs One?

Egg washer machine
  • Higher throughput – One machine replaces dozens of workers washing eggs by hand.
  • Consistent quality – Every egg receives the same wash, dry and inspection, so batching and grading become reliable.
  • Better shelf life – UV sterilization plus a light film of white mineral oil slow down bacterial invasion and keep eggs fresh longer.
  • Lower breakage – Cushioned rollers and adjustable speed reduce cracked-egg loss compared with manual handling.
  • Scalable line – The washer can be docked directly to a weight grader, a packing machine or an automatic yolk/white separator, so it grows with your business.

How Does the Egg Washing Machine Work?

  1. Loading – Workers tip a whole basket or crate of eggs into the water tank. Eggs are picked up one by one by the conveying rollers in an orderly, aligned flow.
  2. Soaking – Eggs pass through the water tank, where dried-on dirt and manure are softened before brushing.
  3. Brush scrubbing – The eggs enter the brush-roller section. Nylon bristle rollers rotate against the shell and thoroughly scrub away dirt, stains and residue.
  4. Candling / light inspection – Under a professional LED cold light source placed beneath the eggs, operators spot and pull out cracked, diffused-yolk, deformed or sand-shell eggs.
  5. Air drying – High-pressure air blowers remove the remaining water so the shell is dry and ready for the next stage.
  6. UV sterilization – Ultraviolet light eliminates bacteria on the shell surface.
  7. Oil coating – White mineral oil is atomized and evenly sprayed on the egg surface, sealing the shell against external bacteria and preserving freshness.
  8. Grading & discharge – Clean, dry eggs move onto a food-grade PVC conveyor. A mechanical weight grader (based on the balance principle) sorts them into up to five adjustable grades , then the eggs are sent to packing or to a yolk/white separation line.

Key Components & Materials

Every component that touches the eggs is chosen for corrosion resistance and durability:

  • Water tank – Made of 304 stainless steel , corrosion-resistant, easy to clean and long-lasting.
  • Egg-conveying frame – 304 stainless steel for high strength and no deformation.
  • Egg-loading rollers – A soft, corrosion-resistant material that does not damage eggs while adding friction for even, orderly loading; produced in molds for uniform dimensions.
  • Egg-loading chain – Thickened 304 stainless steel chain plates, corrosion-resistant and non-deforming.
  • Cleaning brushes – Special curved bristles with a wear-resistant compound that deliver high abrasion resistance and excellent elasticity, effectively lifting dirt off the shell. The brush shafts are stainless steel, so they will not corrode.
  • Machine frame – Available as folded-steel-plate modules (bolted, no welding, rust-proof, higher strength — the default) or square tubing, according to customer preference.
  • Candling station – LED cold light source from below; operators remove unqualified eggs by hand.
  • Conveyor belt – Food-grade PVC.
  • Motor – Wannan dual-output motor.

  • Preserved / century eggs
High capacity egg washing machine

It is designed for small, medium and large egg-processing businesses — from farm-level operations to industrial packing plants.

How to Choose the Right Egg Washing Machine?

When selecting a machine, match it to four factors:

  1. Required capacity – Roughly 5,000 eggs/hour for the single-row line; 10,000–14,000 eggs/hour for the double-row line.
  2. Egg type – Fresh, salted, mud-pickled or preserved eggs all work, but tell your supplier how heavy the surface soil is so the brush pressure and soaking stage can be tuned.
  3. Additional stages – Do you need candling only, or also UV sterilization, oil coating and weight grading? These are added as separate modules.
  4. Line layout & downstream equipment – Confirm whether the machine must connect to a packer, a grader or a yolk/white separator, and plan the space and power accordingly.

FAQ

Does the egg washing machine crack or break eggs?

No. Eggs are carried on soft POM/silicone rollers and the line runs on a variable-frequency drive, so eggs are handled gently from loading to discharge. Breakage rates are far lower than with hand washing.

How many eggs can it wash per hour?

The single-row line processes about 5,000 eggs per hour; the double-row line reaches 10,000–14,000 eggs per hour, depending on configuration.

Can it be connected to a packing machine or egg separator?

Yes. The machine is designed to dock with packaging equipment, weight graders and automatic yolk/white separators for a fully continuous line.
